[AlaskaRC] October Meeting

The October 3rd meeting is to be held at Bell's Nursery at 7:30pm. We will
attempt to continue our hybrid version also hosting a Google Meet session.

The club has suffered a significant loss with the unexpected passing of our
Vice President. I am sure I speak for all members in saying we are very
sorry to the family for their loss and offer our condolences. Unfortunately
according to our constitution and state of Alaska Non Profit status we have
to maintain at least 3 officers for the club. Our constitution provides two
options for the office of Vice President to be filled. The 1st option is
the president can appoint an interim Vice President to serve until our next
annual elections. Our 2nd option is to hold a special election.
Our annual elections will take place at the November 7th meeting.
As you all know we do not have a lot of interested parties wishing to serve
as an officer, currently Jeff Anderson is holding two offices, Secretary
and Treasurer. I am serving as the current President. We need some members
to step up and fill the Vice President's office and one of the two offices
Jeff holds.
My suggestion is that we open the floor for nominations at the October 3rd
meeting for all offices, I will appoint one of the candidates to Vice
President until the election on November 7th. These offices do not require
a significant time devotion to the club, primarily just attend the meetings
and in the event of the presidents absence conduct the meeting. Please
consider helping the President direct the club and promote the RC model
aviation hobby.
Additional club news is that our road improvement fund raiser has gone
well, we are currently a few hundred dollars short of the quoted expense. I
believe we have raised approximately $1535.00 and our project cost is
roughly $1800.00.
The delivery of 3/4 minus gravel is supposed to happen the 1st week
October. I have arrange to have 60 cubic yards delivered and spread over
the road to fill the low spots by the Big Red Dump Truck company. We also
have a member who has volunteered to bring his tractor to help.
I have the pretty plane gift card and hope to see many members bring in
models for a chance to win this $50.00 Anchorage House of Hobbies gift card.
