<p class=MsoNormal>Groeschel Field Improvements<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>A group of us are planning on having a little ‘work
party’ out at Groeschel Field this Saturday (May 23).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Currently there is a 600’x75’ runway that we
want to work on a little bit. We plan to go over it with our fine tooth
combs looking for any roots or debris that we can remove. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>We also have future plans (in mid June) to
‘re-landscape’ that runway and plant grass. At that point we
will quit flying off of it and use our temporary runway. The (planned)
temporary runway will be appended on to the east end of the 600’
runway. Our plan is to make the temporary runway be 400’x75’
tacked right onto the end of our ‘permanent’ runway. This
Saturday we will also be working on that extended section of the runway.
In effect, our usable runway between now and mid June will be approximately
1,000’x75’.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Additionally we plan to go get the benches, frequency board,
and wind sock from Wayne’s Field and bring them over to Groeschel Field.
(Yes I know the club hasn’t voted yet but the benches need to be moved out
of Wayne’s field.)<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>So those of you that are interested, bring your yard tools
and skills (and planes) on out this Saturday. As far as required tools,
really just whatever utensils you own that are suitable for pulling up small
roots and twigs (a steel rake wouldn’t hurt either). I plan to be
there by 9am but the actual ‘partying’ probably won’t begin
until 10am as people show up.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>If you can make it, send me an email and let me know so I
can get a head count of who is coming and whether or not they are bringing a
pickup or something else we can use for moving benches.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>There should be plenty of time to get in some flying too.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>If you need more information or have questions, contact me by
email (preferably). If you really feel that you just want to talk to me,
give me a call at 245-3550 (leave a message if necessary). <o:p></o:p></p>
