    I have been building and flying model aircraft for over 65 years. The hobby/sport of model flying has always been a family friendly endeavor while being both entertaining and extremely educational.

   </div>

    Many aerodynamic scientists, electronic and mechanical engineers, and full scale pilots have starting backgrounds that include model aviation. I, myself, can be included as I have been a full scale pilot for over 50 years, holding an ATP certificate. I also have a lifetime membership in the ACADEMY of MODEL AERONAUTICS. The AMA has published safety guidelines that are well thought out.

    The vast majority of those of us who fly model aircraft only fly in a responsible manner...line-of-sight without the use of visual telemetry. The model aircraft we operate in a line-of-sight manner do not even have the potential to affect full scale aviation safety when flown by those of us who have historically follow our own rules. Any problem with safety would only involve those who are unaware of or merely disregard any safety considerations in the first place.

    I believe the proposed rule or would affect those of us who partake responsibly in a negative and unfair manner...making it very difficult for those of meager means to enter the hobby while unnecessarily making it more complex for the rest of us.

   </div>

    Bottom line...The proposed rule would not be effective in any way to increase safety because the ONLY ones to follow the rule would be the responsible modelers who are already operating in a safe manner.
