  Tom,

By the sounds of it from my end you seem upset. I think a part of that is from miscommunication and some misconceptions. I just want it be known for the record that I indeed helped out with the Elmendorf field last season when I was there. For those who don't fly in the winter I understand that all of the work I did at cleaning up the club house and making it rather nice (creature comforts) would have gone un-noticed. That's fair enough on that, no hard feelings there. I know you may feel put off by some of the club members, However I am sure that who ever paid for the field for us to fly on did it as a gesture for the whole club and not just a select few. I have always seen ARCS club members receive each other's company well as long as the ambiguous personalities are left at home and respect is shown to one another at the fields. We do tend to settle into our own clicks, but there isn't much preventing all of us getting along and flying together. All people have to do is respectfully communicate and treat each other the way we want to be treated in return. I know most of the guys with the big planes are pretty reasonable. As long as your nice about it, you can let them know if something is bugging you and they will try and help relieve the problem. I know for a fact that most of us try and limit our flights to ten minutes when smaller planes or multiple people are around. I would almost bet that whoever paid for the field did it out of the best interest for the club. I understand that the vote has been postponed till next month. If I know Tom Simes at all I'm sure this was for a good reason. Right now the way it looks is that a kind individual has fronted a month's rent so the club can continue to have fun on all levels. They probably were inpatient, didn't want to deal with the timely politics, and wanted to continue to have fun. Has anyone excluded people from the field yet? Don't sell yourself short Tom. I don't think anyone has it in for you personally. We are all just grown men trying to play with our toys and visit with our friends. This really should be a relaxed and fun environment.

  Jr.

i dont care about comp and at the meeting it was said bye the presdent that we would take care of the field issue at the next meeting and bye the way the first email had nothing to say about one of you paying for the field out of your pocket

and if its not club money then the club dont have to pay it back right cause the rest of us wont be wecome as always

you cant fly 40 to 60 size planes on hay stubble

i cant see 75 people that live in anch driving to the end of the world just so we can sit and watch the few of you big dogs

hover and hover ok your better at it than i am or is it i just do not choose to be selfish and just hog the hole dagon field

pretty good no cuse words yet ! but why do you few have to push thats fine fly above 300 ft that has always been the issue

with elmendorf i am not stopping nothing you all are doing i am just saying

the way you all are doing this is wrong you few did not care about elmendorf or the rent a can oh and bye the way

last summer we got to spend a hole 500.00 on elmendorf and a lot of people came out an helped a lot

but none of you big dogs came out i even sent out messages that there were work partys to help fill the big holes

so that you would no hurt your big planes of all vareis types and sizes and then there was not even enough

people to help jude or time and on one of yalls comps ya didnt even have enough people to compete

i dont care about how you are trying to shove this down the rest of the peoples througt

  TOM

    Hi Tom,

This field is not just for flying contests. Many of us like to fly planes above 300'. This field would have no size, sound or altitude restrictions (other than AMA safety regs.). Also, for events like the Hal Horton Memorial (non-competition) which are open to the public, there would be no problems for non-members like getting through the gate at Elmendorf. As Armand has said, one of our members has taken a positive step for the club and paid for this month OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET (not club money).

Any club member can contact a club officer and get permission to have the rent a can delivered. I used to do it for Moffit and I was not a club officer. Maybe we all could try to help out instead of making it more difficult.

    Steve

from what i remember at the club meeting tuesday we all were going to vote and persue the other flying fields at the next meeting

you were not in no big hurry to open the rent a can so just wait for all of us not just a few of you to make the dission

of when and where your going to fly your contest and a vote of the members at a reg meeting is required before we spend

      more than 500.00

never the less we still need to vote on this before we persue this any further

I just want to start the 'discussion' about a new unrestricted field for ARCS. I am referring to a field with no altitude restrictions or noise issues. One that we can fly all of our various types of aircrafts and hold events. Last year that field was Wayne's World.

Over the last couple of days, I have had some phone calls back and forth from fellow members who are concerned about the fact that the club didn't decide on a field at the meeting on Tuesday. We hate to see an entire (summer) month go by without a field while we wait for the next club meeting. So, some of us have decided to move ahead with the plans to use the field 'across the way' from Wayne's World. (Sorry, I don't know the name of the field owner so I don't exactly know what to call the field at this point.) From what I have been told, this field will be even more wide open than Wayne's and with no berms or wind rows (smoother/flatter too).

Mike Mosesian has been in contact with the owners and with Wayne and everything is looking good. Wayne says he is fine with us moving and there would be no hard feelings. Mike also negotiated for us (or ARCS) to spread out the payments across a five month term - which comes out to $400 per month for a total of $2,000 (which is even cheaper than last year's field).

We have discussed this with our club president, Tom Simes, and it seems that everything is looking good for us to go ahead and begin getting things in order (insurance for the field, figure out the runway, move the benches, etc.).

So now we (you, us) need to get together and set up a day/time to meet out there and discuss the arrangements and have a good look around. Maybe a work party or something to that effect. Those that are interested in helping and/or would like to be involved and see the field (and hopefully do some flying too), just let your voice be heard here on the mailing list. Alternately, if you prefer to remain anonymous, go ahead and send an email directly to my email address (below).

Reminder: There still hasn't been an 'official' club vote on the field. As far as I know, we will still be taking care of the voting process at the next meeting.

        Thanks.

(Also a huge thanks goes out to Mike Mosesian and Pat Martin for getting the ball rolling.)
