[AlaskaRC] IMAC - 2012 Aresti & Call Sheets

One of the things I do Is actually open up the hatch that conceals the
diaphragm and make sure it's not stuck/damaged and get THAT wet with gas
too! I seem to remember Mike or Casey having a stuck diaphragm a couple
years back. Its what made me start checking that. My DL-50 hadn't been
started in two years and she started sucking fuel as soon as I did that this
year.

I know you where looking for a reply from Armand, but what we usually do for
the first start of the season is squirt gas into the mouth of the carb. My
Da100 took 3 tries to get it to fire and run. What that does is get some
fuel in the carb to wet the pump and then lets the motor fire and kick over
so that it will draw fuel faster then you could cranking it by hand. I
would try this first and then if it still doesnt get fuel take the carb
apart and get some fuel in it. What we do is get some gas in the mouth of
the carb, pull the choke on and try to start it as usual. If you crank on
it and it doesnt fire right off, try to get some more fuel in the mouth of
the carb again. Once it does fire with the choke on, open the choke and try
to start it. Try that a few times and see if it will start that way.
Again, if it doesnt, open the carb and get the pump wet.

If the boys at DA say to take apart the carb then that's the thing to do.
If it is one of the first DA50 check with them and see if the carb needs
reworked.

Thanks Armand, I call DA engines about my DA 50 not drawing fuel and they
said I must take the carb apart and wet the rubber gaskets so it will
operate. Do you think if I pulled the spark plug and put fuel in the
cylinder and fired the engine that might work, or with no fuel in the
crankcase for lubrication will that be OK? Engine is not going to run but
for a second anyway?

If you want help with this or any other flying, you can catch me out at
Groeschel field most weekends and I will try to be at JBER most Wednesdays
(can't make it this week cause of my wife's birthday though).
